The Last Will & Testament of ELIZABETH HODDER (1722) Widow of Beaminster

In the Name of God Amen I Elizabeth Hodder of Beaminster in the County of Dorsett Widow being of good and perfect memory do make ordain and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following revokeing and annulling by these presents all and every Will and Wills heretofore by me made either in word or in writing and desiring and appointing that this only be taken for my last Will and Testament and first I recommend my Soul to the mercy of God hoping to be saved through the merrits of Jesus Christ and my body to the Earth to be buried according to the discretion of mine Executors hereinafter named

And as to the setling of my temporall Estate I do order give and dispose of the same in manner and form following that is to say Imprimis I Will that my debts and funerall expences be paid and discharged

Item I desire my said Executors to give to the poor people of ffleet Street in Beaminster aforesaid what they my said Executors shall think fitt

Item I give unto my Servant Maid Mary Stoodley forty pounds Sterling the feather bed that she usually lyes on and the bedstead and all other the furniture thereunto belonging

Item I give unto my Grandson James Randall tenn pounds lawfull money to buy him a suit of mourning Cloaths

Item I give unto my Grandson James Cooper the like sum of tenn pounds like lawfull money to buy him a suit of mourning And I also give him my great Bible

Item I give unto my Grandson Thomas Cowper ten pounds to buy him a suit of mourning Cloaths

Item I give unto my Grandson George Cowper ten pounds to buy him a suit of mourning Cloaths Item

I give unto my Great Grandson John Pitman tenn pounds to buy him a suit of mourning Cloaths

Item I give unto my Great Grandson Thomas Truppe ten pounds to buy him a suit of mourning Cloaths

Item I give unto my Great Grandson John Truppe tenn pounds to buy him a suit of mourning Cloaths

Item all the rest residue and remainder of my Personall Estate goods and Chattles whatsoever and wheresoever and not herein and hereby already by me given I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Hannah Randall and my Grandson Thomas Randall whom I hereby make authorize constitute and appoint whole and sole Executors of this my last Will and Testament

In Witness whereof I the said Elizabeth Hodder have hereunto set my hand and Seal the two and twentieth day of June in the Seventh Year of the Reigne of our Sovereigne Lord George now King of Great Britain etc. And in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred twenty and one Eliz: Hodder Signed Sealed Published and declared by the said Elizabeth Hodder for and to contain her last Will and Testament in the presence of us whose names are hereunder subscribed
