Will of Jane Heyward 1723

The following is a literal transcript of the Will of Jane Heyward made 1722 proven 1723 transcribed from a film of the original at Dorset History Centre (Blanford 27) by Bob Hills December 2010. My notes or additions are indicated in [].





In the name of God Amen I Jane Heyward of Marnhull in ye County of Dorsett Widow being of sound and perfect mind and memory thanks be to God do make and ordaine this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following Imprimis I commend my soul into ye hands [of] God that gave it And my body I commit to ye Earth from whence it was taken to be decently interred according to ye discretion of my Executor hereafter named and as touching all such temporall Estate where with God hath been pleased to bless me I give and dispose as followeth
viz//
I give unto my son John Heyward ye sum of six pounds of lawfull money of Great Britain to be paid him by my [illegible] within half a year after my decease//
Item I give unto my three daughters Jane Mary and Susanna one shilling a piece of lawfull money to be paid them by my Executor when demanded//
Item I give unto my said daughter Janes two children one pound a piece of lawfull money of Great Britain to be paid them by my Executor when demanded//
Item all ye rest and residue of my Goods monies Chattels and C[illegible] whatsoever I give will and dispose to my son James Heyward whome I make constitute and ordaine to be my full and sole Executor of this my last will and Testament hereby making void all other wills and Testaments by me formerly made In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seale the third day of August Anno Dom 1722//
