In the June 1841 Census Elizabeth Spracklin is shown as still resident at Shipton Gorge, recorded as in the age band 50 to 54 (1787-1791), of Independent means and born in Dorset. Importantly she has with her 5 of her children namely Robert, William, Charles, Samuel and Eliza: Her other children are also still in the parish. Sarah for example is working as a general servant for a local farmer George and Mary Ann Bartlett helping them look after the farm and their 6 children. By the March 1851 Census Elizabeth has moved to live at Askerwell in Dorset with her now married daughter Sarah SIMES (SYMES] recorded as Elizabeth Spranklin Mother-in-Law, widow, aged 61 pauper, born Dorchester; In the 1871 Census she is still living in Askerwell with her daughter Sarah SYMES recorded as Elizabeth Spranklan, aged 83, Mother-in-law, born Dorchester.. Elizabeth died there at the age of 86 being buried at Askerwell on 1st May 1874: children:- (1) Robert Sprackland (1814-1874) baptised at St Martins church in Shipton Gorge 27th Nov 1814 fathers occupation labourer. C1841 Robert Spracklin was resident at Shipton Gorge with his Mother and 4 siblings. Robert is recorded as being in the age band 25-29 (i.e. born 1812-1816) Ag Lab unmarried; He married Ann CHANT a native of Somerset at Burton Bradstock in Dorset on 1st Jan 1842 and they remained in that parish after marriage. Burton Bradstock is only one and a half miles sw of Shipton Gorge. They had a daughter Hagur Chant bap at Burton Bradstock on 26th Mar 1843. Robert died at the age of 60 being buried at Burton Bradstock on 21st Sep 1874. He was joined by his widow Ann on 11th April 1876 when her age was given as being 75. (2) John Sprackland (1816-1845) bap Shipton Gorge 25th Nov 1816, fathers occupation a labourer. He married on 19th Oct 1840 at Askerwell to Mary Ann SYMES and they were living in Shipton Gorge in June 1841 John Spracklin working as an agricultural labourer. John died at the age of 29 and was buried at Burton Bradstock on 21st May 1845. (3) Richard Sprackland (1817-1875) bap Shipton Gorge 14th Sep 1817, fathers occupation labourer. (For some reason he also appears to have been re-baptised as Richard Spranklan at Holy Trinity Church Dorchester on 31st Aug 1821 when his parents abode was given as Pease Lane Dorchester and his fathers occupation that of a a carpenter?).He married on 31st May 1841 at Winfrith Newburgh recorded as Richard Spracklen a bachelor and a mason by trade resident at Shipton Gorge and his father was given as being Robert Spracklan a carpenter by trade. He married Jane KING the daughter of another mason Thomas King and settled in Burton Bradstock where they appear in the June 1841 Census. By 1851 they were living in Winfrith Newburgh, Richard recorded as a bricklayer and by 1861 had moved to 35 Commercial St in South Stoneham Hampshire. They were still there in April 1871. Richard died at Bitterene Southampton 11th Dec 1875. Jane died aged 67 during 4th qtr 1880 in the district of South Stoneham in Hampshire. ] (4) George Sprackland (1819-1824) bap Shipton Gorge 24th Sep 1819, fathers occupation labourer. (Like his brother Richard he also appoears to have been baptised twice. The 2nd time as George Henry Spranklan also at Holy Trinity Church Dorchester on 5th Jan 1821 when their abode was given as Pease Lane Dorchester and fathers occupation as catpenter?) He appears to be the George Haines? Sprackland buried 29 Feb 1824 at Burton Bradstock aged 4 years when his abode was given as Shipton Gorge in Dorset). (5) Henry Sprackland (1821-1824 ) bap Shipton Gorge 9th Sep 1821, fathers occupation Labourer. Like his brother George he was buried at Burton Bradstock on 12th Feb 1824 his age being given as 2 years and his abode as Shipton Gorge. (6) Sarah Sprackling (1823-1872) not located her baptism; She lived with her parents/mother until she marriedas Sarah Sprackling to Nathaniel SYMES (1825-1892) at Shipton Gorge on 8th March 1849. They settled to live in the parish of Askerwell and are shown there in the 1851 Census recorded as 'Sarah Simes, wife, aged 27 (not 32 as recorded on ancestry) married to Nathaniel Simes Head aged 26 born Askerwell with Elizabeth Spranklin Mother-in-Law widow aged 61 pauper born Dorchester; also Eliza Spranklin sister in law aged 15 unmarried born Shipton Gorge. They had 4 children between 1849 and 1863 and Sarah's mother Elizabeth continued to live with them in Askerwell. Sarah was buried there at the age of 48 on 15th May 1872, Elizabeth remaining with Nathaniel until she also died there at the age of 86 in 1874. Nathaniel died at the age of 67 in 1892. (7) William Sprackland (1826-1846) bap Shipton Gorge 18th June 1826 : C1841 William Spracklin with mother and sibling age 15 Ag Lab; He died unmarried at the age of 20 and was buried at nearby Burton Bradstock when his abode was still given as being Shipton gorge. (8) Charles Spracklin (1828-aft.1901) C1841 Charles Spracklin resident Shipton Gorge age 13 Ag Lab; He married Margaret McMullen a native of Ireland at Burton Bradstock on 6th Jan 1852 when his occupation was given as that of a Mariner, and his father as Robert Sprackling a carpenter by trade. after marriage they lived for a time at Portsmouth but by the time of the 1861 Census were back living at Burton Bradstock, Charles recorded as a boatman at the Coast Guard. By 1871 he was the Chief boatman in charge of Whitemans Coast Guard Station at Chaldon Herring. By 1901 they were living in Arundel Sussex Charles a Lodge Keeper aged 72 ] (9) Samuel George Spracklin (1830-1904) C1841 Samuel Spracklin resident Shipton Gorge age 10 Ag Lab; He married Caroline SMITH on the Isle of Wight on 2nd March 1856. He became an able seaman and is in the 1861 Census on board the ship Royal Thistle aged 29 his wife living at Northwood Hampshire. They had a large family Samuel being buried at Cowes in Hampshire 6th June 1904] (10) Eliza Spracklin (1833-1911) C1851 Askerwell with sister-in-law and her husband and her mother. Still with them in 1871 unmarried aged 24; She had 2 illegitimate children; Alfred born at Litton Cheney c1859 and Mary J born at Longbredy c1860 and married a widower Joseph Allen at Askerwell on 16th Aug 1864. After marriage they settled to live in Grimstoine in the parish of Frampton where they appear in the 1871 Census. By 1881 they were in Godmanstone but back in Frampton by 1891. Children from this marriage:- (1) John Henry Lake (1817-1833) bap HT Church 5th Oct 1817 and buried as John Lake of Pease Lane on 15th Sep 1833 aged 15. (2) Frances Ann Lake (1819-1861) bap St Mary's Church in Melcombe Regis Dorset 13th Oct 1819. Lived with her parents until her marriage at Holy Church in Dorchester on 22nd May 1853 to a bricklayer John CLARK who was a widower; her younger brother Charles Ernest acting as one of the witnesses. They settled to live in Melcombe Regis in Wesley Street and had several children there before Frances Ann died at the age of 41. Her body was returned to Dorchester where she was buried at the Civic Cemetery on 28th Nov 1861. John Clark remarried. (3) William Robert Lake (1822-1898) Bap St Peters Church in Dorchester on 19th May 1822; already an apprentice Carpenter in 1841 He married a school mistress Mary Ann Russell (1825-1898) a native of Charminster at St Georges Church in Fordington on 21st May 1845. Follow link for more information. (4) George Evomy Lake (1824-1849) bap HT 26th Dec 1824; In June 1841 Census aged 15/19 living with parents and siblings Pease Lane Holy Trinity Dorchester. Death GRO 3rd qtr 1849 recorded as George Lake Dorchester district Ref 8/31 - not located burial but not in any later census. (5) Charles Ernest Lake (1827-1895) bap HT 25th Jan 1827. Aged 14 in the June 1841 Census he was already an apprentice shoemaker. On 19th November that year he was arraigned to appear before the Quarter Sessions accused of harbouring a fellon but agreed to give evidence for the crown. Having given his evidence he was discharged by the court. In the March 1851 Census he is described as a Journeyman Cordwainer. He was a witness at the wedding of his elder sister Francis Ann to John Clark at HT on 22nd May 1853. He also married at Holy Trinity Church in Dorchester on 26th June 1853 to Hannah [Anna] Cake RUSSELL (1829-1860) the daughter of William RUSSELL a sawyer by trade and Hannah CURTIS. His bride had been baptised at Charminster on 5th June 1829. They lived after marriage in West Fordington but had no children and unfortunately Hannah died when 31 and as Christchurch in West Fordington had no burial ground she was buried at St Georges Church in East Fordington on 21st May 1860. Charles soon remarried at Christchurch on Christmas day 1860 to Mary Anne RANDALL who was the 16 year old daughter of a stone mason John RANDALL. They were to have 15 children most born in Australia. (6) Susan Lake (1829-1908) bap HT 30 Oct 1829; Aged 13 June 1841 Census already an apprentice Bonnett Maker;1851 Census Straw bonnet maker unmarried aged 21; 1861 unmarried aged 36 [32?] Milliner; Susan married at HT Church on 19th May 1861 to Henry DAVIS a painter by trade. In 1871 they were living with her younger sister Sarah and her husband Albert James BARTLETT in Princes St. She died on 13th April 1908 being buried at the Civic Cemetery.. (7) Henry Lake (1832-1881) bap HT 26 Feb 1832; Known as Harry Lake aged 10 in June 1841 Census; 1851 Census aged 19 unmarried;1861 unmarried aged 34 (29?) a journeyman brightsmith; Henry married at Puddletown in Dorset on 26th Oct 1867 to Anne DIBBON a Widow who was possibly born at Athelhampton in Dorset the daughter of Henry LEGG a Carter by trade. Anne's 1st marriage was to William DIBBEN (1819-1857) by whom she had 5 children. In 1871 Henry and Anne were living in Piddlehinton, Henry described as a black and bright smith journeyman, with their 2 year old son George and 2 stepchildren from Anne's 1st marriage. Anne LAKE/DIBBEN nee LEGG was buried at Puddletown in Dorset on 9th April 1876 when her age was given as being 51. [Note:- In Census returns however her age varied :- 1851 Piddletown age 30 (1821); 1861 age 39 (1822) ; 1871 age 44 (1827) ; Death 1876 age 51 (1825)] After her death Henry and their son George were declared paupers and are in the Union Workhouse in Dorchester. Henry death is recorded as the 24th May 1881 aged 49 when he was buried at the Civic Cemetery, presumably brought from the Union Workhouse as they wrongly record his trade as being a carpenter (which was his fathers trade). (8) John Evomy Lake (1834-1903) bap HT 26 Oct 1834; Aged 5 in June 1841; 1851C aged 16 Errand Bay; 1861 appears to have been wrongly recorded as Stephen unmarried aged 32 [actually 27 but all his siblings ages in the return are wrong as well] Journeyman Carpenter. Aged 46 in 1881 Census living as a boarder unmarried in Princes St; By 1901 in the Union Workhouse aged 65; Died a bachelor on 2nd March 1903 aged 68 grave 54 carpenter. (9) Sarah Lake (1836-1899) bap HT 16 Oct 1836; aged 4 in June 1841 Census; 1851 Census aged 14 errand girl;. 1861 unmarried aged 30[27?] Milliner. After Banns of Marriage were read on 5th; 12th and 19th December she married at HT Church on Christmas Day 1869 to a butcher by trade named Albert James BARTLETT, born at Weymouth the son of a postman James BARTLETT. In 1871 Sarah and Albert were living with her elder sister Susan and her husband Henry DAVIS in Princess Street in Dorchester. James Albert BARTLETT died aged 37, recorded as a butcher by trade, and buried at Melcombe Regis on 9th May 1877. In 1881 Sarah is living in lodgings in Melcombe Regis her age 41 (45) a widow and working as a nurse. He became a sawyer by trade and after marriage they lived in Back West Street Dorchester naming their 1st child Lancelot after his father. Tregonwell was arrested on a charge of smuggling on 7th Jan 1820. He was taken to Dorset County Gaol and this provides a description of him and states that he is married with one child. Tregonwell Roper is in the June 1841 Census living at the back of Cuckolds Row in Fordington recorded as Tregonwell Roper aged 60 to 64 a Sawyer by trade born in Dorset. With him is his wife Mary aged 40 to 44 of independant means and Tregonwell Roper junior aged 10 to 14. Mary ROPER nee TALBOTT (1793-1849) from Grove buildings West Fordington was buried at St Georges Church in East Fordington on 15th May 1849 aged 56 years. C1851 Tregonwell living at 20 Grove Buildings West Fordington a widower aged 72 years a Carpenter (Infirm). Old Bank - 1 & 2 High West Street Dorchester [Link to Article © Jo Draper - Dorset Life - Sep 2013] John Albion COX (1806-1842) to give him his full name was the 4th known child and 2nd son from the marriage of Mary Suzanna Stickland (1773-1861) to Revd George Edward COX whom she married at Spetisbury in Dorset on 6th January 1798. His brides full name was Darkey (alias Dorcas) Knight Sayers (1806-1853) and she was the eldest daughter of Richard SAYERS Esq of Greenwood Co. of Dublin. John COX was initiated as a Freemason in Dorchester on 02 May 1834. In June 1841 they were living in High West Street in Dorchester where John Albion Cox was a partner in the 'Old Bank' of Dorchester. It dates from July 1835 and is featured in the 1839 Roberts Street Directory for Dorchester where it is shown as 'Williams, Cox, and Co'. John COX died at the age of 57 being buried at Holy Trinity church in Dorchester on 9th August 1842. There is a memorial tablet to him on the South wall of the church. After his death (by 1851) his widow had moved with her children to Hastings. She died 2 years later and was buried At St Mary de Crypt Church in Glocester on 20th June 1853 aged 45. Her will was proved in London on 31st August that year when she left her estate to her 4 surviving children. Children from this marriage:-

(3) Frances Marion COX (1835-1860) bap HR 8th Oct 1835; known as Fanny she lived with her mother but died at Balheary near Swords in the County of Dublin Ireland on 15th Sep 1860 but was described as being late of 15 Southwick Cresent in Paddington. She left an estate of just undet £2,000 with Letters of administration granted to her sister Darkey on 20th Oct 1860. (4) Talbot Ashley Pattison COX (1836-1877) bap HT 10th Nov 1836; became a Colonel in the 3rd Regiment of Foot, married a French wife Agnes Darkey Blagrave (1845-1932) and was living in Folkstone Kent with his family in 1871 but died in India Cawnpore on 9th Dec 1877. After marriage they settled initially in All Saints parish in Dorchester where Joseph, their 1st child, was born and baptised. By June 1841 they had moved to live in Back South Street in St Peters Parish which is probably where the following three children were born. Nicholas's trade is given as being a gardener the same as his older brother William. I have not located baptisms for them anywhere else. By 1851 they were living in Winterbourne Hougton in Dorset, Nicholas working as a gardener and later as a groom. By 1861 however they had settled to live in Wimborne Minster where they eventually died. Nicholas RICKARD died at the age of 77 during the 1st qtr of 1877 GRO Deaths Ref 5a/201 Wmborne Minster Susan RICKARD (1816-1876) died aged 60 Wimborne Minster 4th qtr 1876] Known Children:- (1) Joseph Rickard (1838-1918) bap All Saints Church Dorchester 7th Jan 1838 ; C1841 age 3; He married during 1st qtr 1861 Wimborne district GRO Ref 5a/391 to Mary Ann GOULDING (1836-1866) ;Mary Ann also came from a Wesleyan family. She was the daughter of Richard GOULDING of Winterborne Monkton a cordwainer by trade by his wife Matilda and had been born on 18th Aug 1836 and baptised in the Wesleyan Chapel at Poole in Dorset on 14th Sep 1836 [See RG4 Non Conformist BMD's Piece 1231 Ancestry.com image 93 of 107] .In the 1861 Census living at Water St, Cranborne, Dorset Joseph age 23 married to Mary Ann age 24 born Winterborne Monkton. They had a daughter they named Matilda Goulding Rickard GRO reg 5a 244 Wimborne district 4th qtr 1861. Mary Ann Rickard nee Goulding died at Tarrant Monkton Dorset whilst resident at Cranborne aged 29 years and was buried there on 7th June 1866. Joseph Rickard now a widower then remarried on 30th Oct 1866 at Cranborne to a widow Charlottre Barter Coltrane. They are still in Cranborne in 1871 Joseph aged 33 and Charlotte aged 40 a native of the town. By 1881 they were living at Victoria Rd Christchurch Hampshire Joseph 43; Charlotte 50 Matilda aged 19; 1891 Census still there Joseph 53; Charlotte 61 . In 1901 Census living at 5 Victoria Place BournNicholasemouth Hants Joseph Rickard aged 63 now a widower for 2nd time with Matilda unmarried aged 39.Their house is next to the Wesleyan Chapel in Bournemouth. During 4th qtr of 1901 Joseph remarried to Sarah Ann Stagnell Christchurch district Ref 2b/1494b ;They are in the 1911 Census Joseph now 73 and Sarah Ann aged 51 . [OBITUARY:- Bournemouth Guardian Sat 10 Aug 1918:- Many of the older residents will hear with regret of the death of Mr Joseph RICKARD, which took place on Monday last at Barn Cross, Holwell Sherborne, The deceased who was in his 81st year, had been ailing for some time and the end came quite peacefully. The late Mr RICKARD prior to his removal to Holwell a few years ago had resided at Springbourne for a lengthy period, his first acquaintence with Bournemouth being in 1873. For many years he was a Wesleyan local preacher in the Wimborne and Bournemouth Circuits and had held various offices at Springbourne Wesleyan Church, but some time prior to his removal he identified with bthe east Cliff Congregational Church. The funeral took place quietly yesterday (Friday) at Holwell. After marriage they settled to live in 'Shire Hall Lane' Dorchester which ran north from High West Street by the 'Shire Hall', from which it took its name, up to Pease Lane which ran parallel eastwards to connect to North Square with it's entrance to Her Majesty's Prison. He remained a Warder at the Prison for the rest of his working life, although the April 1871 Census shows that he had by then moved to live ar 6 Castle Row in St Peters Parish. I suspect he retired from the Service when he was 65 as the 1881 Census shows him to be an annuitant living in Fordington at No. 4 Foundry Buildings on Fordington High Street. George was buried at FStG Church on 18th December 1890 aged 80 years. Mary Ann BOWRING nee WARREN died aged 93 and was buried at FStG Church on 3rd January 1907. Children from this marriage:- (1) Walter Bowring (1844-1845) bap HT 22 July 1844. He died an infant and was buried at HT 16th Apr 1845 (2) George Warren Bowring (1845-1927) bap HT 16th Nov 1845; aged 15 a printer & compositor apprentice he became a stationer. He had a civil marriage to Mary Ann nee HANGER at Melcombe Regis in 4th qtr 1867 and they raised a large family moving regularly through Sussex, Kent, Bedfordshire Hamshire and London. George died in Sussex 15th July 1927. (3) Charlotte Bowring (1848- ) bap HT 26th Apr 1848.She may have married Daniel Read at Chistchurch West Fordington 25th Mar 1872 although her age is given as 20 and her fathers occupation as that of a labourer? Charles had been baptised at Cerne Abbas on 28th Dec 1827 the son of a journeyman carpenter Thomas COSBY by his wife Catherine. Thomas had moved his family to live in Dorchester by 1835 when they had a son Henry John Cosby baptised at Holy Trinity church despite actually living at Hennings town in Fordington. At Thomas's request the baptism was carried at by the Rev Henry Moule Vicar of St Georges Church in Fordington but in Holy Trinity Church. The family is in the 1841 Census living in Holy Trinity Parish in West Back street Charles in the 15 to 19 age band with 5 of his siblings. By the 1851 Census his parents have moved within the parish to Trinity Street where his father not only operated as a carpenter but also ran a Tea, Coffee and Eating house. Susan LAKE (1829-1908) sometimes referred to as 'Susannah' was the 6th child from the marriage of Henry LAKE (1786-1871) to Sarah ROBERTS (1794-1863). Susan remained living with her parents until she married working locally as a milliner. After marriage they lived in Friary Lane in St Peters Parish where their son George was born, Henry plying his trade as a painter and where thier first two children were born before moving to live in Trinity Street. By 1871 they were living with her younger sister Sarah and her husband Albert James BARTLETT in Princes St. Henry DAVIS (1834-1874) , described as a painter by trade from Holy Trinity parish, then died at the age of 40 and was buried at the Civic Cemetery in Dorchester on 9th Nov 1874. Susan DAVIS now a widow was still living in Princes St in the 1881 Census working as a straw bonnet maker with her 2 sons Robert & Charles Davis. By 1889 (Kelly's St Directory) they had moved again to live at (No.14) Great Western Road in West Fordington, Susan still making straw Bonnets. She is still there in the 1891 Census with her 2 sons, although the address is recorded as 14 Great Western Terrace. Her son Robert as shown below has married Mary DRAKE and they are also living there with a 2 month old son named Henry aged 2 months. Kelly's Street Directory for the year 1895 records her living at No. 14 Victoria Road Dorchester, but this is simply because the street name was changed to commemorate Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee. Susan was still there living with her son Charles aged 71 in 1901. Susan DAVIS nee LAKE was buried on 13th April 1908 at the Civic Cemetery in Dorchester. (1). George Lake Davis (1862-1863) bap Holy Trinity Church on 13th July 1862. He died aged 9 months and was buried at the Civic Cemetery on 9th March 1863. (2). Robert Lake Davis (1864-1905) bap HT 7th Feb 1864 ; C1871 with parents Princess St HT aged 7; C1881 aged 17 a butchers assistant; Started his own business as a journeyman butcher and moved in the mid 1880's with his widowed mother and brother Charles who he also trained to be a butcher to live at 14 Great Western Terrace in West Fordington. Recorded simply as Robert DAVIS he married aged 25 to Mary DRAKE at St Georges Church in East Fordington on 23rd Dec 1888. They had a female daughter who appears to have been stillborn and buried at the Civic Cemetery on 13th April 1889, but went on to have 3 children (follow link) before Robert Lake DAVIS died at the age of 41 and was buried at the Civic Cemetery on 20th April 1905. (3). Frances Thirza Davis (1866-1867) bap HT 1st May 1866; She died aged 1 and was buried at the Civic Cemetery in Dorchester on 15th Aug 1867. (4) Charles Henry Ernest Davis (1868-1955) Born on 27th July 1868 and bap HT 4th Oct 1868. C1871 with parents age 2; C1881 with widowed mother age 12: He worked for many years with his elder married brother Robert with their mother as butchers - C1881 at 14 Great Western Terrace in West Fordington aged 22 unmarried. On 18th July 1882 he was accused of stealing to the value of £5 but aquitted and discharged Still unmarried aged 31 in the 1901 Census with his mother at 14 Victoria Road (Great Western Terrace renamed) By 1911 he was living at 40 Holloway Raod working as a Traction Engine driver for the Styeam Ploughing Works, unmarried aged 43; The Sep 1939 war Census records him as a night watchman living at 19 The Grove in Dorchester still unmarried and gives his birth date as 27th July 1868. Although at marriage he is recorded as Albert James he was actually baptised at Holy Trinity Weymouth as James Albert Bartlett the son of James and Mary Ann on 8th March 1840. Three more of his siblings were born at Weymouth (Sarah Whittle Bartlett, William Spencer Bartlett and Frederick Bartlett) before they moved to live in Melcombe Regis wher they were joined by Eliza and Louisa who all appear in the 1851 Census living at 9 West Quay where their father worked as a Post Office Messenger. Sarah LAKE (1836-1899) was the 9th child from the marriage of Henry LAKE (1786-1871) and Sarah ROBERTS (1794-1863) In 1871 Sarah and Albert were living with her elder sister Susan and her husband Henry DAVIS in Princess Street in Dorchester. James Albert BARTLETT (1840-1877) died aged 37, recorded as a butcher by trade, and buried at Melcombe Regis on 9th May 1877. In 1881 Sarah is living in lodgings in Melcombe Regis her age 41 (45) a widow and working as a nurse. (3) Henry Samuel Samways (1879-1959) born at Caldecott in Rutland ; (GRO Reg 4th qtr 1879 Uppingham District Rutland Ref 7a/320. As far as I can tell he was not baptised. Remained with parents until he married Beatrice Ann BARGERY at Buckland Newton in Dorset on 15th Oct 1902. Known as Harry Samways he worked as a carter and he and Beatrice had 4 children in Tolpuddle, Watterson and Wool with 3 still living in 1911. Henry was buried at Winfrith Newburgh on 12th June 1959 aged 79. (4) Fredick Samways (1884 - aft 1939) born at Swanage on 9th June 1883; bap Christchurch West Fordington on 25th Oct 1874 ; Remained with his parents until he married Elizabeth [Lizzie] May GODDARD at Owermoigne in Dorset on 21st March 190 and was resident in Wool in 1911. In 1861 Jane was aged 17 and a house maid to a farmer Joseph Saunders and his wife; By 1871 she had moved to live in Pease Lane in Holy Trinity Parish in Dorchester where she worked as a charwoman. With her are two illegitimate children, Walter Lake aged 6 born at Weymouth and Annie Symonds Lake aged 2 born in Dorchester . Annie had been baptised at Holy Trinity Church in Dorchester on 23rd Aug 1868 (no father given) which confirms Jane was living at Pease Lane in 1868. A third child Herbert Richard Lake was also baptised at Holy Trinity on 20th June 1880 and is aged 10 months in the 1881 Census. As shown above She married George HUM in 1884.
