Alfred and Emma are in the 1901 Census living at No.7 St Helens Rd in St Peters Parish Dorchester. Alfred is now described as a manager (Tailors & Outfitters) aged 33 born at Bere Regis and Emma May aged 36 with their 9 month old daughter Majorie A.M Russell. So probably at this point still employed at Genges. Very soon after this he set up his own business as pictured in the 2nd postcard posted in 1907 in my collection of postcards about 'South Walks' . The 3rd card shows his business entrance in South Street with his window advertisement in the upstairs window where it states "A RUSSELL, Tailor and Breeches Maker" . From an article in the Dorset County Chronicle dated 20th Jan 1910, when he gave a character ref for one of his employees, he refers to having employed him for 7 years next March so it was up and running by March 1903. Unfortunately Alfred died and was buried at the Civic Cemetery 9Grave 1247) in 1914. 20 July 1899 - Henry Charles GALE aged 28 a bachelor son of George GALE married Susannah GALE aged 30 a spinster daughter of Isaac GALE 19 Sep 1899 - William ADAMS aged 31 a bachelor son of John ADAMS married Ellen Draper HOWE aged 32 a spinster daughter of Richard HOWE [Note:- Added from CLDS Film 2427528 Feb 2023] 12 Jun 1900 - William Stephen Nickells MERRICK aged 33 a bachelor son of George MERRICK married Mabel Jane DUNN aged 26 a spinster daughter of Ton DUNN 12 Dec 1900 - Walter John HARTLEY aged 29 a bachelor son of John HARTLEY married Bessie HATCHARD aged 26 a spinster daughter of John HATCHARD
